HPMA’s DAA Announces Fall 2024 Awards Recipients

HIGH POINT, N.C., Sept. 23, 2024 – The High Point Market Authority’s Diversity Advocacy Alliance (DAA) announces recipients for its inaugural Diversity Advocacy Alliance Awards, to be recognized at a presentation ceremony and mixer held at Pandora’s Manor on Sun., Oct. 27, during the Fall 2024 Market. Upholstery brand Verellen will receive the Open Arms Award, awarded for inclusivity and warm hospitality towards all showroom visitors regardless of race, gender or orientation. HPMA Names Style Spotters for Fall Market Program

HIGH POINT, N.C., August 13, 2024 – High Point Market Authority (HPMA) announces “Style Spotters Spotlight,” a new twist on the trade show organizer’s signature Style Spotters program, naming TV design stars Galey Alix and Mikel Welch as this season’s Fall Market headliners. Alix is a former Goldman Sachs executive turned executive producer of HBO Max’s “Home in a Heartbeat with Galey Alix.” Known for her empathetic communication style and surprise approach with homeowners, as well as for viral videos attracting over five million viewers, Alix is ranked fourth on a list of the world’s most influential renovators, according to Vogue magazine. Welch has earned recognition from leading publications Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, and House Beautiful for interior design projects, including his room in the 2024 Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York. Bell Biv DeVoe and Funk You to Headline Fall Market Center Stage

HIGH POINT, N.C., August 12, 2024 – The High Point Market Authority (HPMA) announces Bell Biv DeVoe (BBD) and Funk You as this season’s Center Stage headliners for Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27. Formed in Boston in 1989, BBD is known for its debut album Poison, which hit number three on Billboard’s charts in 1990, with Poison, the single, reaching number one on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop charts. Key players in the new jack swing movement of 1990s R&B and hip hop, BBD was awarded Best R&B/Urban Contemporary album of the Year by the Soul Train Music Awards for Poison in 1991. In 2012, the group received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Soul Train, and in 2023 won an Emmy for BBD at Fenway, a documentary showcasing a Fenway Park performance with the Boston Pop Orchestra. Out of Augusta, Georgia, Funk You hit the music scene in 2011 with its debut album Funk You, followed by its 2012 sequel Funk You II. Apparitions (2016) catapulted Funk You’s success, with over one million plays on Spotify for the album’s She’s So High. Registration to attend High Point Market is available to U.S. and international buyers, including retailers, residential and commercial interior designers; press, industry professionals, exhibitor personnel and students. Qualifying registrants will be issued a Market pass, which is required for entry into buildings and showrooms across the 13-block Market District. Guests who register prior to October 11 (or September 27 for international attendees), will receive their Market pass in the mail at no charge. HPMA Opens Application for 2025 Style Spotters Team

HIGH POINT, N.C., July 9, 2024 — The High Point Market Authority (HPMA) announces its call for influential interior designers and other industry tastemakers to lead its signature Style Spotters program in 2025, with applications accepted now through July 26. The 2025 Style Spotters team will be made up of first-timers to the program only. Five home fashion pace setters— individually selected to scour High Point Market exhibitor showrooms at next year’s April and October trade shows—will be responsible for identifying the top furnishings trends presented each season. In addition to spotlighting items in showrooms during each Market, the 2025 Style Spotters will present favorite products on their social media channels and in special features posted to the High Point Market website.

DAA 2025-2026 Committee Applications Open to Industry

During a two-year term that begins in January 2025, committee members will be tasked with executing the organization’s mission, which promotes the ideals of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) at High Point Market and within the home furnishings sector. The group’s mission statement expresses a commitment to expanding representation of the BIPOC community and facilitating the implementation of equitable policies and practices throughout the industry and its leadership.
